My Hobbies
When I am not traveling, I am hanging around cats --or as seen here on Halloween, they are hanging on me (perhaps this is why they call me the Crazy Cat Lady)! Every day on my way home from work, I stop to feed my last cat from my feral cat colony that once had 16 members! I am a volunteer for the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) and their Trap-Neuter-Return program. In 2015, the Hayes art show theme was Team Cat vs. Team Dog and we invited MHS to come and talk to the fourth graders about their program. This is a free program for students, but they do accept donations. We collected items on their wish list and created Kitty Forts out of cardboard based on the Seven Wonders of the World. Since Webster's art show theme this year is "I Wonder..." I would like to repeat the process of making Wonders of the World Kitty Forts to donate again as they were a huge hit!
and more hobbies...
On October 9, 2015, Webster Elementary had their annual Walk-a-thon along with their very first car parade, Show Us Your Wheels. This '76 Camaro was restored by my husband (his own version of art...collecting and restoring muscle cars) which gave me the inspiration to hold a mini dream cruise. Here I am leading the parade along with a Model A car club, a monster Army truck, Mustangs, Corvettes, a race car, and a '72 Nova driven by my husband among others. The students created pennants in art class to cheer on the cars as they drove past the students. The parade was held behind Webster in Jaycee Park after their walk-a-thon was complete. Drivers were given a certificate for participation.
